This design features Hertha Ayrton who invented an air fan for dispelling gas in the trenches during the first world war (the Ayrton flapper fan), the line divider and the Sphygmomanometer (an instrument for measuring blood pressure). Euphemia Haynes was an American mathematician and educator. She was the first African-American woman to gain a PhD in mathematics. Ada Lovelace her mathematical talents led her to an on going working relationship and friendship with fellow British mathematician Charles Babbage, and in particular Babbage's work on the Analytical Engine.
