This pattern features five types of vintage circular sock machines (CSMs): P.T. Legaré, Auto Knitter, Harrison Sun, Modern Victoria Automatic, and Gearhart. Knitting tools (a heel hook, cylinder needles, sock blockers, and open/closed cast-on baskets) are intermingled on a neutral, antique brown/taupe background. Perhaps most actively used to support the efforts of WWI, these machines were also promoted as a means of increasing family income. Interest in the vintage and newly-manufactured machines continues to this day.
