This pattern is part of a design series for a modern dance piece featuring ten different women. Meant to show a splash of color on a large stage, the more delicate design of moons, crosses, and diamond lines is for the dancer, herself, to see and enjoy. The base pattern is a hand-drawn plaid, inspired by early American weaving traditions, in a soft yellow with subtle shades of grey. On top lay tweedy pink square patches accented by crosshatching threads in deep green and rich turquoise blue, tied together with a wave of bright white embroidery-inspired thread and pinned by red yarn-based Xs harkening to quilt-ties. This pattern is well-suited to home decor, from throw-pillows to curtains to upholstery. It also lends itself to charming clothes patterns for women and children as well as fabric for quilting and crafts.
