Inspired by the story of stone soup, where everyone contributes a little something to make a great soup, I created this design in honor of our local food bank, the Alameda County Community Food Bank. Not only do they perform a valuable service, with one in five people in Alameda County facing hunger, but they're always innovating, from partnering with farms to bring more fresh fruits and vegetables to their clients to going through local schools to reach families in need to working to solve the underlying problems that cause food insecurity in the first place. I've been especially impressed with how they've adapted during the pandemic. I always feel like every dollar I donate there is well spent.
