About the Design

Inspired by the Berlin U-bahn Vinetastrasse station.

The Vinetastraße U-Bahn station was added to the U2 line in 1930 and was the last northern station until 2000. It’s located in former East Berlin and in 1987 the GDR renovated the station for Berlin’s 750th anniversary. The redesign was a collaboration between Stefan Weiß, Rainer Binsch and Jörg Grote. The design uses simple beige, black and red tiles in a creative layout introducing different angles and asymmetry. The concrete gray walkway to the platform has a low ceiling with dominating octagonal light fixtures.
