Seven blocks fit across the width of a 56 inch fabric, such as Organic Cotton Sateen. There is also a version of this pattern in a ready to use 56" panel with the trees "on point". This is great used as diamonds, placed on point between diamonds of other fabrics. The sides are printed with the grain of the fabric, so they'll be less stretchy than individual blocks cut on the bias. ***This version has cutting lines between the 8 inch blocks.*** When sewn with 1/4 inch seam allowances all sides the blocks will finish at 7.5 inches. If you prewash your fabrics, I tested Organic Cotton Sateen and it has just a tad over 3% shrinkage on these blocks. So, after washing, the cutting lines between blocks are just under 7.75 inches apart. With a scant 1/4 inch seam allowance on all sides the finished prewashed block will be about 7.25 inches.
