Hi My name is Sakura and I am from Japan, I am wearing a traditional Kimono made from hand woven and embroidered silk. You can find out more about the history of the Japanese Geisha and the traditional clothing the Geisha wears. Kimono are T-shaped, straight-lined robes worn so that the hem falls to the ankle, with attached collars and long, wide sleeves. Kimono are wrapped around the body, always with the left side over the right (except when dressing the dead for burial)[4] and secured by a sash called an obi, which is tied at the back. Kimono are generally worn with traditional footwear and split-toe socks. Today, kimono are most often worn by women, and on special occasions. Cut out Cotton Fabric for back of doll the same size. 3. Pin right sides together 4. Sew all the way around leaving a small opening on top of her head for stuffing. 5. Turn right side out, and turn out corners with a stuffing stick. 6. Fill doll to desired firmness 7. Turn in opening and hand stitch closed the opening. 8. Enjoy your new doll Sakura!
