Cherry blossoms from a Japanese Garden design, are named "ichiban" because it means "number one" in
Japanese. To me, cherry blossoms are ichiban!
Sometimes partially hidden, and sometimes visible among the cherry blossoms, is the Japanese symbol for ichiban. This design was an opportunity for me to be reminded of my years spent in Japan. My father was stationed on Kyushu, the southern most island, and I learned so much from the beautiful culture and people of Japan.
